The Lakers are a well known team in the NBA. The Lakers are from Minneapolis, but the Lakers are in LA now. The Lakers are a great team. When I was young I always wanted to play for the Lakers. Well let me tell u a little history on the Lakers. Well the Lakers first started in1947-48 in Minneapolis. The team entered the NBL also known as the National Basketball League. That year the Lakers made it to the Finals. The Lakers Won the Championship that year also. In the season of 1948-49 the Minneapolis Lakers and couple more teams joined the Basketball association of America. Well in the finals of 1948-49 the Lakers was facing the Washington Capitols. The Lakers and Capitols had a good battle, but the Lakers won the BAA championship. The Lakers were unstoppable. After that Season the BAA and NBL Joined together and the NBA was born. The NBA consisted of 17 teams competing in three divisions. The Lakers were in the Central Division the NBA strongest Division. Ending the regular season the Lakers had a 51-17 Record. The Lakers made it to the NBA playoffs. The Lakers made their way to the NBA finals. The Lakers where Facing the Syracuse Nationals. The Lakers Won the NBA’s First Championship. The next year 1950-51 the NBA dropped down to 11 teams. That means the NBA only had two Divisions. The Divisions were The Eastern and Western. The Lakers were in the western division. The Lakers were favored to win the championship this year too. The Lakers made it to the NBA Finals against Rochester Royals. The Lakers won the First game in a best out of five series. The royals were not hearing that. The royals won three straight games to win the championship. In 1952-53 the Lakers were claimed as the first NBA dynasty.
The Lakers also had there share of Superstars. The Lakers First Superstar that I know of was Jerry West. Jerry west was great player. The first time I seen a jerry west highlight was wit my dad. I seen shot the ball from the other side of the court at the buzzer for a game winning shot. Then I find out that The NBA logo of the man dribbling the ball is Jerry west. Then the next is Wilt chamberlain he was like seven foot tall. He is the only person I know of to score 100 points in a NBA Game. In 1979 the Lakers drafted Earvin “Magic” Johnson. Magic was a great player. Magic earned the first of three finals MVP awards. In 1986-87 Magic won his first NBA MVP award and he won his first finals MVP award. In 1991 Magic Retired and he told the world he had HIV. In 1995 the Lakers got Shaquille O'Neal from Orlando. Shaq is a beast. Nobody could stop Shaq he was quick and powerful. The Lakers had a good team in 1995 they had Shaq, Robert Horry, Nick Van Exel, Eddie Jones, Elden Campbell, and a rookie by the name of Kobe Bryant. Kobe was outstanding in the rookie game he score 31 points. Kobe and Shaq took over in 1999. They won their first championship in 1999. Then they won their second title in 2000. Then for a third time they did it again in 2001. They won three championships back to back to back. In 2004 the Lakers traded Shaq to Miami. With out Shaq, Kobe just went crazy with the rock. Kobe was a one man team. One game Kobe scored 81 points in a game against the Raptors. The Lakers were great team, but they are getting even better. So when u see the colors Purple and gold you gone think about the Lakers.
